Tillamook Rock Lighthouse: Located 1.2 miles seaward off Tillamook Head south of Seaside.  Tillamook Rock Lighthouse stands 133 feet above sea level with 62-foot-high tower on basalt rock islet. Exposure to storm waves earned it the nickname "Terrible Tilly."

Hiking: Oregon coast trail on Tillamook Head between Ecola State Park and Seaside offers closes views; also visible from park's Indian Beach parking lot.

 

Whales : For spouting, breaching (heads straight up in the water) and flukes and tails and you'll have to come to Seaside, an experience o remember.  Gray, humpback and sperm whales make their south annual December pilgrimages from the chilly waters of Alaska to their mating and birthing grounds in warmer Baja Mexican climes.  Even a weekend trip in fall or spring might afford a sighting or two from casual observance. Lewis & Clark : The Corps of Discovery, known as the Lewis & Clark Expedition - set off from St. Louis more than 200 years ago in search of a water route linking the heartland of an expanding United States to Pacific trade routes. That expedition ended when the team made its way down the Columbia River and eventually reached the Pacific Ocean. Now, two centuries later, America is recognizing the bicentennial of this event. History buffs are retracing the steps of Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, Native American guide Sacagawea and the rest of the military team.

 

Golf: The Seaside Golf Club, with the Necamicum River running through, is a great place for a serene, relaxing 9 holes. The Highlands at Gearhart is a par 30  course, perfect for your short game, overlooking Gearhart Beach. Gearhart Golf is an 18 hole, public course located on the beautiful North Oregon Coast in Gearhart. The course, opened in 1892 as 3 holes strewn across the sand dunes, is the oldest course in the northwest and arguably in the Western United States.
